Woodlands Hotel Wedding | Gemma & Frankie

Ceremony: St Paul's Church, Hanging Heaton, West Yorkshire
Reception: Woodlands Hotel, Gildersome, Leeds

Second-shooting with Gav Harrison

It's just as well Gemma and Frankie weren't going to let a bit of rain spoil their big day - it chucked it down all morning!
In fact, they were determined to have a good time and that's exactly what they did, as you can see. Maybe the fact that the lads all came equipped with sunglasses jinxed the weather, I don't know but, thankfully, there was a bit of an improvement in the afternoon and we managed to get the group shots done between showers.
Gemma & Frankie were great fun to photograph - Gemma has such an infectious laugh and Frankie kept her demonstrating it all day.
The evening's entertainment was provided by The Rebel Sounds, who were, in my humble opinion, absolutely brilliant. Their catchy ska / reggae tinged interpretations of all sorts songs had everyone on their feet.
Congratulations to Gemma and Frankie and a big thank you to the fantastic staff at Woodlands.

South Yorkshire Marquee Wedding | Amy & John

Ceremony: St Peter's Church, Barnburgh, South Yorkshire
Reception: Marquee, Clayton, Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Second-shooting with Gav Harrison

Phew! What a scorcher! Just as well, really, because the reception was in a huge marquee in Amy's Dad's farmyard. With Amy and John both being farmers, I don't suppose a bit of mud would have dampened their spirits at all.

There was a distinctly agricultural feel to the whole day (which was a real treat for me, having been brought up on a farm) and the church was decorated with wheat and barley arrangements in milk churns with a huge corn arch over the door. Both Amy and John arrived at the church on enormous highly polished Massey Ferguson tractors - I wonder how long it took to clean them up! - Amy's Dad restores vintage tractors and has quite a collection (his gleaming MF135 brought back a few memories for me, I can tell you).

We photographed Amy's sister Emma's wedding to Paul last year at Waterton Park, so there were a few familiar faces to photograph, which always fun.

It goes without saying that Gav & I had a fantastic day's shooting. Congratulations and thank-you to Amy and John for being such great sports.
